For my thesis project, I drove around Santa Monica, Venice and Culver City, photographing architectural structures trying to capture the shapes outlined from the different angles of the buildings. I decided that I wanted to go into my shoot with no specific building or image in mind. My aim was to capture crisp and sharp lines within the image and I walked around until I found it. I looked for colors that popped without taking over the image. I looked for crisp lines that showed perfect silhouettes of shapes. I looked for white space above the more complex part of the picture. The digital camera that I used for this project helped me capture these images in a clean minimal fashion. I have always been drawn to minimalistic photography because of the sharp clear lines, placement, and structure of the images. I show a different texture in each of my photographs but have similarity in the sky. I display a soothing palette of colors that could coexist with each other without demanding the attention of every part of the image. My Goal is to provide the viewer with the thought that simplicity can be more intriguing than a complex image. I would hope that my audience would look at my work and see how important framing, color palette, texture and light are in each photograph.
