Angles of Water, 2021
Inkjet Prints
17.28 x 11.52 inches
Angles of Water was inspired by a single photo I shot last year. The photo depicted my younger brother's head seemingly floating over a body of water. The water had many interesting lines formed by ripples in the water and my cameras' flash reflection. Since I took this photo I have become interested in the bending of light, reflections, perception, and interesting lines. I used the idea of abnormality by putting foods, and other things in the pool that are not normally in a pool. While the fruits, bottle, and soccer ball were in the photo, I consider the texture, color, design, and light presented in the water to be the subject. The photos are built to confuse and force the viewer to contemplate the space in which the water is present. My goal was to make photos of water interesting by adding bright colors and adding objects that you do not normally see in water to complement the texture of the water itself.
