Colorful Emotions, 2021

Digital print

13 x 8.621 inches each

The first thing we see when we look at art is the colors. Colors play a huge theme in our day-to-day lives. We use colors to identify certain things, including our emotions. When we see red, we immediately think of anger, rage, love, and passion. Colors affect how we can act and feel. So I wanted to create stories using different colors that are meaningful to me.

The three colors I chose were orange, green, and blue. I shot the orange photograph on the sand with my friend dressed in orange, holding half of a grapefruit. To me, orange signifies creativity, independence, and optimism. I shot the green photo on the grass with my sister dressed in all green, including green makeup. Green means balance, safety, and growth. The blue photo was shot in the pool with my friend dressed in blue. The color blue reminds me of freedom, loyalty, and sadness. These colors are special to me because I feel all these emotions/colors daily.

I completed this project because I wanted the viewers to feel some sort of emotion. When they look at the colors in the photos, I want them to question how they are feeling.
