When I think of the word repair I immediately think of the word, broken. The word broken translates to “having been fractured or damaged and no longer in one piece or working order.” For me, my missing piece is my grandfather who I associate with a dragonfly. The dragonfly is an animal that reminds us that everything is possible and invites people to keep a light, positive outlook on life. I wanted to depict this loss through art and thought it was only appropriate for me to create something that so literally has a missing piece, a puzzle. The missing puzzle piece will forever be altered even when attempting to find, repair, and make a new one. This is the same for me with the missing place of my grandpa within my family.
