This current body of artwork researches various juxtapositions of form, surface, value, physical, and visual texture. These biomorphic forms contain and de-contain space, shift between symmetry and asymmetry, as well as employ visual and physical textures. The artwork is informed by processes of decay, growth, regeneration, degeneration, domination, and submission. Rich Mudge is a ceramic sculptor working and teaching in Los Angeles. For this continuing body of artwork, Rich draws inspiration from lifelong interactions with the ocean, hiking, camping, and gardening.
