The idea of perception allows one to interpret and perceive aspects in their own way. Within the natural and urban elements of the world, many fail to recognize the beauty and stillness of living natural elements. The World in Pieces exemplifies these components by challenging the viewer’s perception and making them look deeper into the photo to gain a complete understanding. When taking these photographs framing and alignment were taken into consideration. Capturing elements of nature that are often unrecognized forces the viewer to notice the details. Those photos were then manipulated with mirrors to challenge the viewer’s perception of simple photographs and make them observe the images for a longer time than they would perhaps look at a simple photo of nature. In order to execute this successfully, I photographed with the intention of depicting geometric features that would compliment the mirror’s distortion created through mirrors.
